Hotel Signage System
Digital conference signage that updates itself — instead of signs printed fresh every morning.
The challenge
On a conference floor the room allocation changes several times a day. Until then that meant printing signs, sliding them into frames and redoing them on every change. When a room is swapped at short notice, the guest is the first to notice.
Yet all the information needed already existed — in the daily export from the event system. It simply never reached the place where the guest is actually standing.
The solution
A small service between the event system and the screen: it reads the export, keeps one clean version of it and serves that to every display at once.
One source of truth
The daily export is read, normalised and written into a small database. When something changes there it changes on every display — nobody types anything twice.
Displays as simple clients
Each screen runs from a Raspberry Pi in kiosk mode showing a single full-screen web page. If a device fails, a restart is enough — there is nothing local that can break.
Editing in the browser
A lean dashboard for the banquet team: adjust room names, add notices, drop in the client logo. No training needed, because it looks like the form they already know.
